What's It All Mean?
© 1997 DJ Burrup / Caslon Three Publishing.

From the beginning from the first of time
We've been searching for some meaning to our lives
We need a purpose for our hopes and our dreams
If we don't believe in Goodness, what's it all mean?

You've got the neighbor that needs a helping hand
Do you provide it, will you do what you can?
Or do you turn away, pretend you don't see?
If you don't believe in Goodness, what's it all mean?

We've been searching for the answers for at least ten thousand years
Trying to find what makes us want to survive
You can question your motives or you can question all your fears
But if you want to know the truth - you've got to look inside

I don't believe the stories so I won't bow down
If I find out later when I'm buried in the ground
That there's an angry God who won't forgive me
If you don't believe in Goodness, what's it all mean?

Not Let You Fall

Poets Priests and Madmen
© 1993 DJ Burrup, Dennis Scott / Caslon Three Publishing.
The Poet paints a mural on the wall of his page
The Priest says solemn words over someone's grave
The Madmen rage with reason to be mad
He says that we're all prisoners of our circumstance

Chorus:
Poets, Priests and Madmen
Search the boundaries of the earth
Singing songs and praying softly
Screaming for the truth

Poets, Priests and Mad, Madmen
No matter the price they pay
They must lose themselves
Before they'll ever find their way

The Poet writes the songs that we sing from birth
The Priest preaches to the crowd making sure
     his voice is heard
The Madman cries its wasted, no reason to be here
His heart is filled with anger, and his life is ruled by fea

(Chorus)

Bridge:
They got their eyes wide open as they look to the stars
Depending on magic to keep them safe from harm
Their desire for knowledge will never leave
'Cause it's the search, not the answer, that they need

(Chorus)

Does It Really Matter?
© 1997 DJ Burrup, Dennis Scott / Caslon Three Publishing.

Somewhere in the night
In a country far away from here
A child lay dying
And his mother is filled with fear

The child passes away
Just as the morning sun arrives
But she doesn't even notice it
Because the tears are blurring her eyes
It seems she's lost everything and it's more than she can bear

Does it really matter when she drops to her knees to pray
That she's been taught differently and calls God by a different name?
Does the road lead straight ahead or is it a maze of Lies and Truth?
Does God care about Pomp and Circumstance or does
     God care about you?

In the heart of Israel
An Arab and a Jew must fight
Both fall mortally wounded
Israel will lose two - tonight

As they're laying in the street
And the sky is growing dark
They both start conversations
To the Lord from their heart

It seems they've both lost everything and it's more than they can bear

Does it really matter as they both begin to pray
That they've been taught differently and call God by a different name?
Does the road lead straight ahead or is it a maze of Lies and Truth?
Does God care about Pomp and Circumstance or does
     God care about you?
